November 10th, 2022 : Conference “Data Governance for Artificial Intelligence Purposes: Comparative Perspective UAE/GDPR”
Date: Thursday 10 November 2022
Time: 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Venue: Robert De Sorbon Amphitheatre, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi Campus
Scientific Direction : Prof. Nathalie Martial-Braz
Abstract (Full Program below):
Data is the essential element to give autonomy to the algorithm of an artificial intelligence. The governance of this data is therefore essential to ensure the effectiveness of the artificial intelligence in its decision-making. This governance requires a framework, and the legislator in most States or regions that aspire to be leaders in these new technologies fields is proposing regulatory frameworks that balance the interests of promoting the technology and respecting the rights of individuals and data subjects. These regulatory frameworks and the international divergences that may exist are as many difficulties for companies in the sector that need to be understood to allow the development of algorithmic solutions.
The objective of this conference is to offer mainly a comparative analysis of these regulatory frameworks in order to highlight the points of convergence and dissimilarity between the new data protection regulation adopted in the United Arab Emirates (Federal Decree Law No. 45/2021 on the Protection of Personal Data, which came into force in January 2022) and the standard framework constituted by the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This analysis will be done from an academic, a professional and a practical perspective in order to collate best practices from the sector.
Event attendance is free of charge. To register or for more information, please contact: Prof Nathalie Braz nathalie.braz@sorbonne.ae.
